• I didn’t like one person in the team who took all the work to do
• I was approaching my 2 years in the same location

Was it the right decision?  I have no idea – I’ll let you know when I finally have a bit more income coming in!  If the project had been near home, then I would have stuck it out for as long as I could.  However, travelling to London every week, living in yet another anonymous hotel for a job that I loathed, was pretty soul destroying.  I’d rather have no income and spend time with the family (until the cash runs out, any way) than do something that I hate.

Since then, I’ve applied for lots of roles.  I’ve dealt with more agents than I usually care to.  I’ve had phone interviews.  I’ve had a face-to-face interview.  I’ve redrafted my CV numerous times.  I joined UKOUG to go to their conference because I was talking to someone about a job prospect – £1k blown with little to show for it.  And still, we’re approaching 7 months since I had a day where I got paid anything.

Next post, I’ll actually go into a bit more detail about what has been occupying my time.
